Volunteer

The PTA and staff of MacArthur School need volunteers in a number of areas. Being a volunteer allows you to become more directly involved in your child’s school and its fun! You can do as much or as little as you like. All schedules can be accommodated and anything you can do is important and needed.

PTA Volunteer Opportunities
MacCarnival
Co-Chairs: Ann Dombroe and Amanda Fleury
This committee requires many volunteers throughout the school year to chair and help on different committees.  The committees include:  Food, Games, Trinkets, Silent Auction, Basket Raffle, Classroom Gifts, and Inflatables.  We are always looking for volunteers to work the day of the event (set up, during, clean up).

Scholastic Book Fair
Co-Chairs: Maggie Dore and Christina Hushek
Work Book Fair.  Help students write wish lists and ring up sales. Fall and Spring assistance needed.

MacArthur Fun Run—
Co – Chairs: Ann Dombroe, Abi Ribecky and Holly Schleicher
Parent volunteers needed to distribute prizes in the week running up to the Fun Run and assist the date of the Fun Run.

Box Tops for Education
Chair: Sarah Kneisler
Sort and organize Box Tops.

Book Giveaway
Chair: Aaron Cole
Purchase, Sort and label books.  The day of book giveaway assist students in picking out a book

Fifth (5th) Grade Farewell
Co-chairs: Sara Wolf and Caryn Pawlak (looking for a shadow this year)
Plan 5th Grade Night, complete with awards, video, and reception. Coordinate creation keepsake DVD. Event set up and clean up.

Staff Appreciation
Co-Chairs: Nicole Christensen and Jennifer Lavicky
Provide food, beverages, and supplies for teachers and staff during conferences, Teacher & Staff Appreciation week, and Bus Driver Appreciation Day (new). This committee requires a large number of contributors to ensure its success.

Back To School Event 
Co-Chairs: Sara Wolf and Alexis Melby and Coral Kline
Plan Back to School Event. This committee will meet again June–August 2022 to plan the 2022 event.

General MacArthur’s Birthday
Chair: Colleen McGinty
Assist with serving ice cream to the kids at lunch.

Restaurant Fundraisers
Chair: Alexis Melby
Coordinate and advertise restaurant fundraisers.

Apparel Sales
Chair: Ann Braun
Coordinate and advertise apparel sales.  Distribute apparel.

School Supplies
Chair:
Coordinate and advertise School Box.

Golden Guest Lunch
Co-Chairs: Sarah Kneisler and Katie Russell
Coordinate guest arrival and participation in lunch.

DARE Graduation
Chair: Abi Ribecky
Purchase cookies and juice for DARE Graduation. Hand out cookies and juice at DARE Graduation.

General MacArthur Awards
Chair: Caryn Pawlak (looking for a shadow this year)
Order and deliver trophies for the General MacArthur Award winners.

Yearbook
Chair: Kiana Sanchez
Plan, create, sell, and distribute the Mac Yearbook.

Bingo Night
Chair:
Coordinate with the school counselor and Mac leaders to run a Bingo night for families

Spelling Bee
Chair: Caryn Pawlak (looking for a shadow this year)
Run the MacArthur spelling bee and coordinate with other GSD coordinators for the GSD representation at the next level

Fall Festival
Co – Chairs: Robert Sanchez and Nicole Christensen and Amanda Fleury
Organize a trunk or treat, chili cook off, games and food trucks for family fun

Golf Tournament
Co-Chairs: Robert Sanchez and Ann Dombroe
Organize a fundraising golf tournament

Folk Fair
Co-Chairs: Robert Sanchez and Jen Simonson
Organize an event that allows students to show their cultural roots through food, dress, objects and dance

K4/K5 PTA Liaison
Chair: Maggie Dore
Coordinate any questions/requests to and from K4 and K5 families

Dance
Co-Chairs: Alexis Melby and Andrea Carroll
Organize a school dance in the Spring

DI Liaison
Chair: Needed
Coordinate with district DI rep to ensure PTA families are educated on DI events
