First the business… great to see everyone at the meeting. Minutes will be available soon, but in the meantime, a quick preview of what was discussed:
-Fall book fair is coming up and will need some volunteers to make it possible! Timing will coincide with Grandparent’s Bingo Night this year – so we plan to have book fair evening hours that night! The book fair will run from November 5-9. Bingo Night will be November 2 from 6-7:30.
–Kick-n-Pizza Party is tomorrow @ school! See you there!
–Apparel is currently for sale and slips should have gone home with your kiddo(s) this week. You can also order online at memberhub! Those who have done so said it’s awesome… give it a try!
-There are lots of ways to support MacArthur in the day-to-day. Consider box tops, AmazonSmile, Shoparoo or new this year: Coca-Cola Give! Amanda Holly mentioned that in just a week of collecting coke codes at work she got $11. She volunteered to help with entering all the codes so all you need to do is get your coke bottle tops and coke reward codes to her (send into school in a labeled ziplock for “PTA” or email her the codes directly!)
-Our first restaurant fundraiser is coming up September 25th at Roberts! How it works: show up, eat food, MacArthur PTA gets a portion of the profits from Roberts! They’re a great local partner for us!
-Facebook Live date has to be pushed back due to some conflicts but a new date will be released SOON!
-The yearbook committee needs new people to make it happen this year… if you have any interest, get in touch with last year’s chairs: Lindsey Helt or Kristin Jensen!!
-The amount given to each classroom from the PTA each year used to be a share of a flat $2400 annually; that was adjusted so each room gets $125 per year, regardless of how many classrooms there are! This is great because now teachers can better plan how they’ll use the funds, since they know what they will get!
-We will need to talk at the next meeting about what major initiative we might want to undertake for this year! Past years we’ve done playground equipment, document cameras… if you have ideas, plan to come next meeting so we can hear them!
